A Community of Family Bike Campers
Whether riding in the neighborhood or riding in nature and for first-time bike campers to seasoned veterans, this series aims to foster supportive family cycling experiences.
2017 was our first year of programming which started with a tour to Illinois Beach State Park. Since then, we have led 4-5 family bike camping trips each year ranging from 15 to 50 riders. The rides are designed to showcase the amazing diversity of routes and destinations that can be reached in less than 30 miles. Pathways to our natural habitats lie right outside our front door.
This is what its all about! Loading up the bike and the kids bikes and enough gear for the whole family. And pedaling. Getting out there and having an adventure. Together as a family and together as a bike adventure community. Ride through the woods. Cook over the fire. Sleep under the stars. These are usually 3 day, 2 night rides with the middle day spent enjoying the park and basking in its natural beauty. There are often short bike trips on the middle day to swimming pools or nature centers.
