Shawn (he/him) was born and raised in Harvey, IL. I began  riding bikes at the age of 5 around the block. As a teen, my friends and I ventured to neighboring south suburban towns on our bikes.

After living in Alabama for 10 years (3 years as a firefighter), I moved back to Illinois in  2001 and began working/ volunteering at local nonprofits, bike camping, backpacking, kayaking and overlanding.
