Message from Vice President:

Summer! Oh Summer! Why you so good to us?!?!
What an amazing 5 weeks for OOFD. We led our biggest crew yet on the 2 day, 180 mile North Loop Ride, the route that started it all. Welcomed and broke in 3 new stellar OOFD field guides. Introduced a new journey to our repertoire: Water Ways to the West: a 3 day, 185 mile roundtrip to Starved Rock along the incredibly historic I&M Canal trail. And sandwiched between these two epic rides was one of most inspiring things OOFD has pulled off to date: a Family Bike Campout to Illinois Beach State Park. 3 days, 40+ miles, 13 families, 60 people in total! We got to witness youngins camp for their first time. 5-year-olds 2 wheeling for 10 miles! Colossal communal cookouts, splashing in lake waves, nature hikes, endangered turtles, and “kids only” meetings!

We have never been more inspired by the work we are doing.
Sincerely, Vice President  Glenn Schneider

Re-cap: The Family Bike Campout

Family Bike Camping The Out Our Front Door Organization
Family Bike Campout Re-Cap
The adventure began in a tight parking spot behind Third Coast Birth in Logan Square on a rainy Thursday night early August 2017 as riders and volunteers came together. "Their were so many firsts!" Many participants were camping together as a family unit for the first time. The great majority of the group were bike camping for the first time. Many kids were camping for their first time in their lives! And this is where the magic really happened: In watching these first time campers make those all so crucial connections to nature...  Read the full re-cap down below

Meet The Team

OOFD Team Member and Field & Tour Guide
“There ain't no better way to get to know yourself, the terrain, and the culture within it than by bike...”
Kyle Trebotich:
Kyle has spent some solid time in the saddle traversing the UK, Mexico, Colombia, and even Morocco. However, not long ago he realized there was a lot left unexplored in his home country and set off for an epic bike camping tour through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. "The UP in autumn... can't beat it. It just reinforced my itch to find the adventure in home! That's where Out Our Front Door came in." When Kyle is not on his bike, you'll catch him hanging with his dog Toaster, but bonus points for spotting Kyle hauling Toaster by bike.
