OOFD's Transfer Process

By

Of course, we hope you are able to come ride with us on the ride you signed up for. That said, if something comes up, you can transfer your ticket at least 3 days or more in advance of your ride.

Here is our full transfer and cancelation policy

Participant Cancellation: No Refunds. By registering, you acknowledge and agree there will not be a refund if you cancel or do not show up for the event. Tickets cannot be resold.

Transfers: You can transfer three days before the event. You can only transfer to an event in the same calendar year. Fill out this transfer form at least three days before your ride departs, and we will follow up in a week or less with instructions on how to register for your new event. Contact us here if you have any issues.

Organizer Cancellation: Nobody wants an event to be canceled. In the rare circumstance the organizer cancels the event at their discretion, registered participants will receive a full refund. To date, this organization has canceled minimal events.

Weather and Rain: We do not cancel an event for rain, storm, or any other weather. We ride rain or shine. Chicago weather is typically passing, if the weather requires, we will pause the ride and wait in a sheltered space then continue biking. Some of the best views of the lake and greenery on the trails are after a rainstorm.

If you run into any issues, you can email our Executive Director, Glenn, directly at glenn@oofd.org, and he'll do his best to get back to you within 2-3 business days.

A little background on transfers at OOFD (if this kind of thing interests ya)

From 2016-2022, our transfer and refund policy was nonexistent. We were completely or nearly 100% volunteer organization during that time and simply didn't have the capacity to handle the administration of processing transfers and refunds. We did our best to make work with folks when special circumstances arose.
These types of administrative tasks can quickly take a fair bit of the fun out of being a part of an org that is all about being on bikes and out in nature, especially if you are a volunteer. That said, as we have slowly scaled up our capacity with a paid employee, we are working to make systems that better serve and give back to our supporters, our participants.

In 2023-2025, we were able to set up a decent transfer system with our ticketing system. In 2026, we invested in our organization infrastructure by getting a CRM (Customer Relationship Manager) system. This reduced the pirces that our riders and we pay when folks register for a ride as well as give us better organization on the back-end.

The transfer process is admittedly not greatly improved with the new CRM, but it should only take our riders a minute or two to submit a transfer form, and then we will get back to them within a week with a code so they can sign-up for another event with their transfer code. And we ask cut off transfers 3 days before the event so that we have a little bit of time to try to fill your spot with another rider that wants to join. Also, by that point, much of our planning such as groceries have been set as well as the campsites are no longer refundedable.
